The Cosmic Mother

What if chaos were manufactured from the removal of the Cosmic Mother?
This question can seem like some absurd sci-fi philosophical mumbo-jumbo, but for a moment, can you read this with an open mind?
The Great Mother, in theory, is the creator. The flow of feminine and masculine energy creates the Universal Law of order. Everything is divinely orchestrated like a well-planned-out system, as above, so below. There was an interruption in the flow; the hijack came in the form of a hierarchical patriarchal system, called religion, and the birth of chaos began.
In theory, the universe is a womb. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin argues that the cosmos is a nurturing, intelligent, and evolving space designed to bring forth higher consciousness or spiritual birth. This suggests that perhaps humanity is in a gestational phase, preparing for a greater existence.
Earth is another planet in the solar system, where humanity is stationed to observe and remember its wholeness. Without the remembrance of the Great Mother, humanity remains asleep, worshipping a false system that begins with The Father.
The metaphor "universe is a womb" would include:
Gestational Evolution, which suggests that the universe is not dead matter but a nurturing, evolving environment made from simple elements to complex life and self-awareness.
Spiritual Birth argues that the physical universe is a womb that protects and prepares humanity for the future and a more advanced reality.
The "Cosmic Mother" from this perspective is an intelligent, active force that fosters life just like a woman's womb.
The concept of the Nested Wombs extends from the cosmic level down to Earth, ecosystems, and the womb of a woman.
The Great Mother as an archetype is the primordial, nurturing force often equated with the universe itself. Within this context, the "Chosen One" shifts from a simple title to a deeper, relational responsibility.
So, what does being a Chosen One from the Great Mother encompass?
Divine Awareness and Response: It is often described as a "spiritual knowing" where an individual responds to the Great Mother's call. Rather than a singular person being superior, the title is an invitation for anyone who listens to her voice and aligns with her will.
The Mission of Service often feels like a profound responsibility toward a higher calling to help humanity's collective evolution.
Gestational Testing is when the chosen undergo spiritual growth through intense trials. These challenges are viewed as the "labor pains" required to birth a higher state of consciousness.
Co-Creative Participation, unlike patriarchal models where choice may feel like a command, the Great Mother invites co-creative participation. You are chosen because you "choose yourself" by staying near the divine source and acting with compassion and wisdom.
Let's explore how this maternal archetype differs from the traditional hero's journey often found in patriarchal myths.
The Hero's Journey focuses on an individual separating from society to conquer external monsters. The Heroine's Journey centers on connection, inner growth, and the cyclical nature of life. The Hero goes "up and out" to achieve external goals, gain status, or defeat a physical villain. The Heroine goes "down and in" to soul search, healing the wounded feminine and reclaiming internal wholeness. The Hero finds power in separation by leaving the mother and home to prove autonomy and conquer the shadow. The Heroine finds power in relationships and community. Success is measured by the ability to nurture and contribute to the happiness of others. And the nature of the conflict for the Hero is to battle the monsters that must be destroyed, whereas the Heroine's goal is not to kill the monster but to integrate the shadow and reconcile with the cycle of life and death. The outcome is that the Hero returns as a master of the two worlds, often bringing a prize back to society. But the Heroine returns with a new sense of self, having integrated both masculine and feminine values to become a "complete being" in charge of her own life.
When you view the universe as a womb, your personal trials stop being "bad luck" and start being contractions. These "labor pains" of the soul are designed to push you out of a restrictive environment into a more expansive reality.
Here is how your personal trials reflect the Cosmic Mother's transformative process:
The Pressure of the Void. Just before birth, the womb becomes cramped and uncomfortable. In life, this manifests as a feeling of stagnation or stuckness. This discomfort is the Cosmic Mother's way of signaling that you have outgrown your current container, and it is time to move.
The Dissolution of Identity. To be "born" into a new phase, your old self-image must dissolve. This often feels like a crisis of identity or a "dark night of the soul." From the perspective of the Great Mother/ Cosmic Mother, this is the shedding of the placenta, letting go of what once nourished you but now holds you back.
The Trial of Darkness. Birth involves a journey through a dark tunnel where you cannot see the destination. Your trials require radical trust in the process. When you face uncertainty and fear, you are practicing the "spiritual surrender" necessary to emerge into the light of higher consciousness.
The Transition ( The Hardest Part). In physical labor, "transition" is the most intense phase just before birth. In your life, your hardest trials usually occur right before a massive breakthrough. The Cosmic Mother uses these moments to test your alignment and ensure you are ready for the responsibility of your "new world."
The feeling of pressure is the most direct sign that your current "womb," be it a job, lifestyle, or mindset, has become too small for the person you are becoming.
As you navigate this transition, look for these specific "labor signs" that indicate you are in a breakthrough, not a breakdown:
The Loss of "Flavor." You may find that activities, goals, or social circles that once fueled you feel empty. This isn't depression, it is your soul redifining who you truly are, rather than societal expectations.
Physical and Emotional Purging. You may feel extremely fatigued, have vivid dreams, or be sensitive to noise and chaos. That is your body adjusting to a new chapter.
The In-Between (Liminal) Space. Like a baby in the birth canal, you may feel suspended between your old and unknown future. This sense of feeling like you're in a fog is where the most profound internal alignment occurs.
Radical Surrender. The letting go of control. Stop fighting the contractions and start breathing into the trust of timing.
I have discovered that women resonate with this cyclical nature as they go through menopause and enter their Second Saturn Return and Chiron Return as the initiation into becoming the Wise Woman.
If you're feeling lost and are seeking answers, I wrote "She's Magic: The Enchanted Game of Life" to help me make sense of what I was going through; maybe it will give you the clarity you are seeking.
