Let's explore the idea of transformation through the lens of Alice in Wonderland. We all have an image of ourselves that can be reflected outwardly, but sometimes our self-image can become distorted and detached from reality. It can be like looking into a mirror, where the reflection we see is not always the same as what others see. In Alice in Wonderland, Alice is faced with a similar situation. She is on a journey to collect all the pieces of herself, discovering the magic inside of her along the way. As she explores the realm of Wonderland, she sees mirrors that distort her image, and she encounters creatures that offer her advice and helps her grow. Ultimately, it is a story of transformation and self-discovery, and it serves as a reminder that we have the power to create our own image of ourselves.
Have you ever stopped to think about the true meaning of self-image? We often think of self-image as the reflection we see in the mirror, and how realistically that reflection captures our physical appearance. But when you look at the etymology of the word, you find much more than a physical reflection. In Hebrew, the word for self-image is also used for “representative of physical form,” and in Greek, “the object of devotion.” Plato thought of self-image as something spellbinding to ignorance. The Bible also speaks of the concept of self-image, as in Genesis 1:26-28, which talks about human beings being made in the image of God. The Hebrew word Tselem also means “to carve or to cut,” which could refer to the act of capturing an image. These concepts all point us to the idea that self-image is about more than just our physical appearance. It is about our unique status and divine dignity as human beings. It is about the power of storytelling and being able to project an image of our own making out into the world. And even Aristotle said that conquering our own desires is the hardest victory, which suggests that self-image is more than just a physical reflection: it is also a reflection of our inner self and our desires. Ultimately, self-image is a powerful concept, one that speaks to the power of the imagination, the law of attraction, and visualizing our dreams. It is the story of our own making, the reflection of our inner self, and the projection of our desires out into the world. It is an idea that gives us a unique status and divine dignity as human beings.
March 21st will mark the beginning of the astrological new year. This year is especially powerful as it is symbolized by the Aries, the first house in the zodiac, and its ruling planet, Mars "I act". It is a time of transformation and reinvention, of taking the time to look within and make changes to our self-image. It can be a challenging process, but it can also be incredibly rewarding. Take this time to reflect on what you want to achieve, and make positive changes in your life. It’s a great opportunity to get closer to your true self and create a brighter future for yourself. It is important to remember that self-image is more than just skin deep - it is an ever-evolving journey of self-discovery and growth. Use the energy of the Aries season to reflect on how you want to transform and begin to take steps to make positive changes in your life. Good luck on your journey of transformation!
